In the realm of entertainment, it appears that nothing is off-limits when it comes to being adapted, remade, or rebooted.
And apparently, The Wizard of Oz is no exception to this role.
Yes, you read that right.
It’s a little too soon to tell, but apparently writers and producers on the show will be drawing the movies titular character and her companions for inspiration. In other words, Dorothy may probably still be heading to Oz, but most likely for an entirely different reason.
Hell, maybe we’ll even have to call her ‘Dr. Dorothy’ now and follow her has she confronts the wicked witch of Oz Medical.
Moving on, this project comes from the minds of writer Emily Fox and executive producers Carl Beverly and Sarah Timberman. You may remember Fox from The Ghost Whisperer and Beverly and Timberman from FX’s Justified and CBS’ Elementary (respectively).
I admit, it does sound slightly fantastical and out there, but CBS is no stranger to such territory—i.e. The Ghost Whisperer and Babylon Fields.
Because they’re familiar with experimenting with such projects, I definitely think that we shouldn’t sleep on this concept. Who knows? Maybe it could be the next Grey’s Anatomy.
Or some sh*t like that.
