Tameka Foster, Usher’s ex-wife, came by GMA to talk about their son’s near death drowning incident last week.
Foster was quoted as saying, “I don’t blame him. But I’m angry it happened on his watch.”
The former couple’s five year old son Usher Raymond V was hospitalized after almost drowning while trying to retrieve a toy that had gotten stuck in an underwater pool drain. Foster said that her children have never been injured while under her watch, though she doesn’t fault the singer for this accident.
Following the incident, Foster filed for emergency hearing to discuss the custody of the children, but the judge dismissed it. As of now Usher still has primary custody of both children.
While on GMA, Foster explained how the terrifying incident reminded her of when her eleven year old son, Kile Glover, died in a boating accident a year ago, saying, “It was like I relived it. My brain went into all of these modes. I’d gotten this call before.”
Despite the drama, she insisted that her relationship with her ex-husband will always have some level of respect for the children’s sake. When she was asked if she hated Usher she quickly answered, “Absolutely not. He’s the father of my children and I love my children more than life itself.”
