Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie Pushed Back…Again

As if there’s not enough obstacles up against this movie, the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot has been pushed back, yet again.

Oy.

This is starting to get annoying.

The film, which had already been pushed back previously because of the infamous script leakage, had been set to debut June 6, 2014. However, Screen Crush and Deadline are now reporting that new release date is August 8, 2014. This probably means that the studio wants to put a bit of space between it and Transformer 4.

I mean, I’m inclined to agree with picking smarter release dates. You have to know your audience and everything. However, I think they might need to look more closely at that August 8, 2014 release date.

Why?

Well, Fifty Shades of Grey and Guardians of the Galaxy are set to be released August 1, 2014, a week earlier.

It can be argued that Fifty Shades will be appealing to an entirely different audience anyways; so the TMNT won’t get hurt by that. However, with all the hype growing around GOTG, (especially with their growing, phenomenal cast and the leaked trailer footage that had the internet going wild this week), I’m not really sure they want to debut the TMNT movie thatclose too GOTG. On top of that, I’m inclined to believe that both movies will be drawing on the same pool of people: comic book aficionados and (superhero) movie enthusiasts.

Granted, Disney’s been suffering a tad in the summer blockbuster department, but as they and Marvel have shown, they can do no wrong with superhero movies.

Well, unless it’s Iron Man 3, but I won’t talk about that.

Anyways, let the summer blood bath begin….next year.
