James Spader is Cast as Ultron in ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’

Ultron has officially been cast.

And no, it is not Paul Bettany like we were all thinking.

Don’t be that sad, damn.

So, does that mean J.A.R.V.I.S won’t be going batsh*t crazy and turning evil?

Who the hell knows?

Anyways, James Spader has officially been announced as Ultron by Marvel themselves. Such news comes in light of other Marvel casting news including those involving characters like Rocket Raccoon and Scarlet Witch and involving actors like Bradley Cooper and Elizabeth Olsen. Don’t forget WB/DC’s announcement about Batfleck Ben Affleck taking up the role of Batman.

So, in short, the comic book movie world has been busy.

Oh, and Marvel refuses to be overshadowed.

Okay Marvel. We get it. Sheesh.

Moving on, it still isn’t known, however, whether Spader will just be voicing the character or doing something else entirely. For those of you that were originally gunning for Paul Bettany to get the role (for J.A.R.V.I.S-related reasons), you shouldn’t fret.

Spader being cast for the role makes some amount of sense. Most agree that he definitely possesses a great amount of onscreen presence and his voice is on the commanding side for sure. Spader has also had roles in movies like Stargate, had a recurring role in The Office, and will have a role in the upcoming NBC drama The Blacklist (pictured below).

And judging by that picture, Spader definitely looks like he’s up to no good…which is exactly the type of thing we need in a bad-ass/dangerous villian like Ultron.

Yeah….he seems evil enough.

Either way, I’m excited.

Now, if only I could figure out who they might be killing off in this movie so I can sufficiently prepare myself.
