Even though most of us are inclined to roll our eyes at the idea of remakes and remakes period, (I mean the original movie is still very much a classic and all), this new movie seems to offer glimmers of hope that it’s going to be good. And the fact that Chloë Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore are involved is all the more incentive to go see it.
Don’t believe me?
Well, check out the trailer below:
You have my attention, new Carrie.
Moving on, the story has remain unchanged, of course: Moretz’s Carrie White is a social pariah at school and is tormented at home by her uber-super-ridiculously religious mother (played by Julianne Moore). So, when the universe decides to have a tad bit of mercy on her and she somehow develops uber-powerful telekinetic abilities, Carrie sees a way out, but such a way is bound to lead to a dark and terrible end.
There will be blood, my friends.
Lots of it.
Anyways, like I mentioned before, I do appreciate the fact that Moretz and Moore were cast in this movie. Moretz’s star is on the rise and the performances that she has turned in in movies like Kick-Ass and Hugo make me sure that this chick is going nowhere and that we should expect even more to be coming very soon.
As for Moore, she’s always awesome to watch and the fact that her repertoire includes movies like The Big Lebowski, Crazy Stupid Love, and Game Change, makes me all that more excited for her involvement in this movie.
In closing, even though I’m usually disinterested at the idea of a remake/reboot, I think we should expect good things from this one. Let’s hope it lives up to its hype.
