Even before the summer began, many people were already hyped up for Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Though most of us aren’t too acquainted with the aforementioned team, the premise behind it all sounds awesome and Marvel added to that hype by casting some critically acclaimed actors (i.e. Benecio Del Toro, Glenn Close, John C. Reilly, Djimon Hounsou, etc).
Add some leaked footage from Comic-Con and Marvel President Kevin Feige blessing the general populous with a breakdown of each of the characters, and Marvel may have just succeeded—very early, I may add—in generating an obscene amount of hype.
With this movie being a whole year away, is it possible for it to get even more hyped up?
Besides that, we shouldn’t forget that GOTG will not only serve as Marvel’s first venture into the cosmic side of things, but it is also very possibly that they may one day assemble (I seriously couldn’t resist. I tried.) with The Avengers.
“Man, that would be really cool. What’s nice is that it is all the same universe. Because it falls under the Marvel umbrella, there is the possibility, just like in the comic books, that these stories could intersect.
“…it’s exciting to think that. A lot of it’s just going to depend on what people think of the movie and if it makes sense for Marvel to keep making more of them. But I sure hope it does because I’ve never done anything like it. I hope they make ten of them.”
He sounds excited as f*ck.
And that makes me even more excited than I already am.
In all seriousness, it makes sense for the two teams to eventually merge. With Thanos being continously teased as the big bad behind the curtains and with two of the GOTG members sharing personal history with him (Gamora and Drax the Destoyer), it feels like they are all destined to meet.
In closing, I’m totally hoping that the two teams meet up. Like Pratt mentioned, nothing like this has ever been done before. It’s seriously unprecedented and that’s probably the reason most people—including myself—are cheering so hard for Marvel to pull it off.
If Marvel is able to pull this off, which I’m 99.99999998% sure that they can, they will seriously be changing the game for not only superhero movies, but also for multi-movie franchises for many, many years to come.
