As most of you know, Katie Couric recently got engaged and she finally stepped out with the colossal-looking engagement ring:
You could see that thing from space.
Katie Couric’s beau and fiancé sure did a damn good job picking that thing out!
Anyways, 56-year old Couric was seen sporting the ring at the U.S. Open in New York City with her fiancé, John Molner (50). When speaking with People, Couric recalled how shocked she was with the whole thing:
“I was stunned. It took a long time for my brain to process what was going on.”
And of course, Molner was happy that he could surprise his soon-to-be wife. Here’s what he had to say about the proposal:
“I was very old-fashioned in how I went about the proposal,” he explains. “And it was a surprise to her. I was excited to catch her in a moment of confusion, which is pretty rare.”
“Meeting Katie really changed my life. I’ve loved getting to know her and her daughters and I couldn’t be happier. When she said yes, I was just elated. It was a great culmination to one of the best periods of my life” (People).
I am happy for both of them, especially Katie. If you don’t recall, Katie lost her first husband, Jay Monahan, in 1998 to colon cancer (He was 42) and it hit her pretty hard. However, I’m glad (and we should all be glad) that she’s found love again. She deserves that much.
In closing, I wish Katie and John the very best.
