Movie News / Movies / The Trailer Has Dropped

Fans of Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network, Now You See Me) should be happy to know that the trailer for his new movie, The Double, has dropped.

The movie was directed and co-written by Richard Ayoade (Submarine) and is somewhat based off of a novella of the same name by Fyordor Dostoyevsky (If you want to check it out, you can do so here, thanks to the University of Adelaide).

In the film, Eisenberg portrays a man (Simon) that goes bonkers due to the recurring appearance of his doppelganger, James. It also doesn’t help that his doppelganger is different from him in nearly every way. Where Simon is neurotic, shy and somewhat of a longer, James juxtaposes him by being charismatic, audacious, and having a way with ladies. The latter part sucks for Simon, who’s smitten by Mia Wasikowaska’s character, Hannah.

Here’s the trailer below:

As you can see, the trailer doesn’t give much away (which is how it should be, Hollywood), but I still can’t help but get excited, especially with Eisenberg’s and Ayoade’s involvement.

Eisenberg wowed audiences in The Social Network as Mark Zuckerberg and he really impressed me in this year’s Now You See Me, where he played witty, yet lovable asshole, J. Daniel Atlas. He dude has talent and I hoping The Double will prove to everyone that Eisenberg is force to be reckoned with in Hollywood.

As for Ayoade, most know him as Marurice Moss from The IT Crowd. On top of that, Ayoade has gained critical acclaim as a director with his BAFTA-nominated dramedy Submarine. Even though is fanbase is more concentrated in the UK, I see a lot of potential crossover talent in Ayoade and I’m hoping The Double will make that happen.

Anyways, what do you guys think of the trailer (I really liked the music, for example)? Tell us in the comments below!
