First of all, allow me to do this:
If you’ve been following most of our movie-related posts these past few months, then you know that the summer movie season of 2015 not only stands to be very awesome as of now, but it stands to be very crowded as f*ck.
And for whatever reason, Disney has decided to add one more movie to the already crowded movie season:
According to Slash Film, Disney is moving Ant-Man up from it’s previous November 6, 2015 date to July 31, 2015, which is about two months after The Avengers: Age of Ultron hits (and presumably decimates theaters. On top of that, it is also two weeks after Batman vs. Superman destroys theaters too.
Honestly, I don’t know whether this is the stupidest idea I’ve ever heard of or the smartest business ploy that Disney/Marvel has ever pulled.
Either way, I’m flabbergasted.
Moving on, this will bring the number of Disney titles that will be in theaters during the summer of 2015 to 4 (Pirates of the Caribbean 5 and Inside Out) are also included. This probably means that the rumor about Star Wars: Episode VII being pushed back to December is dead-on.
Granted, I’m glad that Disney has enough confidence in this movie to pull something like this, but at the same time, if I were a Disney executive, I might’ve left it at its November date.
But that’s just me.
But what do you guys thing? I’m a off-base, or is Disney actually onto something? Let us know in the comments!
