What YOU Need to Know About ‘Batman vs Superman’

Since most of us agree that we’ll be hearing A LOT about this movie up until it is released in 2015 (and the fact that news about this movie comes out nearly every day), I decided that it would be smart to put this all in one post for your consumption.

So, without further ado, this is what you need to know about Batman vs Superman:

-First of all, Lex, is that really what this sh*t is called?

Good question. I’m hoping that’s not what it’s called, but you may find your answer from this year’s past Comic-Con. WB/DC didn’t really bring a title with them and this is what Man of Steel writer David S. Goyer had to say about the matter when he was asked:

…We’re actually not sure whether the title is ‘Superman vs. Batman or ‘Batman vs. Superman’, but yes, it’s-that rematch, that combination, the two guys onscreen and that’s happening.”

Whatever. You can do better WB/DC.

Granted, the idea of this film is enticing enough, but I’m going to need them to come up with a better title. A lot of comic book and movie fans have mentioned that “World’s Finest” (which is also happens to be a very well executed Superman: The Animated Series episode and a very good storyline in itself) would make a great title. However, since Goyer and company are apparently basing this off of Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns, I don’t know how well that title would work with that concept.

But that’s just me.

-Okay, Okay. I get that. Let’s say that I’m actually going to see this movie. When the f*ck does it come out?

Even though I’m inclined to point you in the direction of the sidebar on our website, I won’t be that asshole.

Moving on, Batman vs Superman is supposed to be debuting in theaters on July 17, 2015. As I’ve mentioned time and time again, that period (the summer movie season of 2015) is going to play out like a Gladiator match. So, if WB/DC doesn’t bring it and keep that sh*t together, the box office is going either unapologetically shred it up or send it packing with its metaphorical tail between its legs.

There will be blood.

No, we shall not. Bleed on, box office. Bleed on.

-Well damn, Lex. Way to be an asshole. Who’s starring in this thing anyways?

I hope you’re not actually asking this question, but just in case you are, I need to say nothing more than this word:

Batfleck.

You can read my mini-rant about that here, but in all seriousness, Ben Affleck will be staring as Batfleck Batman and Henry Cavill will be coming back as Superman. The movie will also see the return of other cast members such as Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Laurence Fishburne (Perry White) and Diane Lane (Ma Kent).

And if you’re wondering who will be playing the quintessential Lex Luthor, I’ve gotta say that no one really knows yet. There have been inklings about it and names like Bryan Cranston, Mark Strong, and Micheal Rosenbaum have been tossed around. BUT…nothing has been confirmed. So, stay tuned.

-I guess. Where are they filming this thing by the way?

Well, according to the powers that be down at Screen Rant, WB/DC recently received some filming benefits to film the thing down in Detroit and in other places in Michigan. Even though it isn’t a secret that the state has gone through bankruptcy-related issues, moves like Transformers: Age of Extinction are filming there and Oz: The Great and Powerful filmed there previously.

If the city itself is any in indication, we may be looking at the new Gotham (Bye, bye Chicago!).

I can possibly get with that. Who’s behind this thing though? Who will be directing? What about cinematography? Don’t even get me started on who might be scoring!?

CHILL.

Take a chill pill.

Please.

While I understand that you have many questions about the creative team behind this film, here’s what we actually know:

Zack Snyder (yes, Zack Snyder. You would think they would’ve just asked Batfleck Affleck to direct the damn thing too.) will resume his directorial duties for the Man of Steel sequel and the aforementioned Goyer is back to helm the script. As for producing duties, those will fall on the shoulders of Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder, while Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan, and Wesley Coller will be executive producing.

Where cinematography is concerned, Larry Fong will be replacing Man of Steel cinematographer Amir Mokri for the sequel. In case you didn’t know, Fong previously worked with Snyder on 300, Watchmen, and Sucker Punch.

So, even if this movie ultimately sucks, it will look very nice…I guess.

Yeah. I went there.

If you’re still wondering about who’s scoring the movie, I’ve got some so-so news for you: Hans Zimmer doesn’t know if he’s returning yet. It appears that Zimmer did not anticipate having to work with Batman again, but you can read more about that here.

.Is that it?

Yeah, that basically is.

Don’t give me that.

Other than what was mentioned above, mums apparently the word over at WB/DC, especially since there’s no official synopsis yet. However, since the movie is still roughly two years away, I’m sure that WB/DC will continue to update us when they see fit.

Until then, I will be busy getting hype (and saving money) for the other 926483571 movies that are coming out in the summer of 2015.
