Well then.
That title speaks for itself, doesn’t it?
Moving on, with all the backlash that Batfleck Ben Affleck got for being cast as Batfleck Batman, it’s a little amazing that James Spader definitely faced nothing of the sort when he was officially cast as Ultron in The Avengers: Age of Ultron.
It appears that Spader is a welcome addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and writer/director/overlord Joss Whedon waltzed over to the Marvel Video show “The Watcher” and talked about how and why Spader was exactly who he had in mind (via Slash Film):
“Spader was my first and only choice. He’s got that hypnotic voice that can be eerily calm and compelling, but he’s also very human and humorous. Ultron is not Hal. Spader can play all of the levels. He’s the guy to break The Avengers into pieces. Muwahaha.”
“Muwahaha?”
Oh Whedon.
You slay us.
Anyways, other than the (strong) rumor that Tony Stark may be Ultron’s potential creator, we don’t know too much about him. However, we know that he won’t be the standard robot or the standard piece of intellgience “gone rogue”, especially from Whedon’s comparison to HAL 9000 in A Space Odyssey. Ultron will be a different kind of robot.
Whedon-style.
So, expect a lot of evilness and a lot of witty banter.
