Having only recently come off of it’s successful $41 million opening this past weekend, FilmDistrict studios is already scrambling to begin working on a third installment.
The aforementioned studio recently announced (along with the likes of Entertainment One and Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions) that it is giving the “go ahead” to Insidious 3—which we can assume will be names Insidious: Chapter 3. Screenwriter Leigh Whannell, (who penned hits like the James Wan-directed Saw and Dead Silence and penned the first two Insidious films), has already been recruited to pen the third film.
If you are a fan of James Wan, however, I’m sad to announce that it is not clear if he will be returning or not. However, such chances may be leaning toward the “or not” side (you can read more about that here).
Moving on, with the way Insidious: Chapter 2 ended, it makes sense that FilmDistrict would want to go ahead with a third one. However, in the case that Wan is not returning, I’d slightly advise against it.
What do you guys think? Are you excited for yet another Insidious movie? Let me know in the comments below.
