It’s been a while since anyone has heard anything on the long-delayed and (somewhat) elusive biopic chronicling the life and career of celebrated musician Tupac Shakur. However, according to recent reports, that might be changing fairly soon.
The Associated Press recently reported that Morgan Creek Productions (a company that’s responsible for movies like Ace Ventura, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Juwanna Mann, etc, etc) announced that they were currently eyeing February 2014 to begin filming the long-gestuating project. The company recently secured a $45 million budget for the aforementioned film and the movie will presumably be titled Tupac.
I’d say that $45 million is a nice budget to work with, as long as they are not doing the utmost.

More power to you.
Moving on, such news comes in light of the fact that MCP recently partnered with Emmett Furla Oasis Films (a company that is recently responsible for the successful buddy cop flick, 2 Guns), which is a move that finally generated some real traction for the project.
Other than that, the two companies have yet to lock down a director or secure any type of distribution and mums the word on who will be staring. However, producers for the film did confirm that they have secured the adequate rights to utilize Shakur’s music and that Shakur’s mother, Afeni Shakur, recently signed on as executive producer.
We’ll update you as soon as we know more.
