‘Annie’ Remake Begins Filming; Rolls Out Full Cast

I don’t even have to tell you reboots and remakes will probably be around for a very long time in Hollywood. However, I do have to tell you the latest news on the upcoming Annie remake.

In the last couple of months, it was proclaimed that Jay Z would be producing a remake of the aforementioned tale Annie and that the titular character would be played by the refreshingly talented Quvenzhané Wallis (though Willow Smith had initially been up for the role). Now, the movie has apparently began filming in New York and Sony finally saw it fit to announce the respectably star-studded cast.

In addition to Wallis, stars like Jamie Foxx, Rose Byrne, Bobby Cannavale, Cameron Diaz, Amanda Troya, Eden Duncan Smith, Zoe Colletti, Nicolette Pierni and Adewale Akinnouye-Agbaje are also set to appear in the movie.

Hmm. Not bad. Not bad at all.

Will Gluck (Easy A) will also be directing the project and the previously mentioned Jay Z and Will and Jada Pinkett Smith will be producing too. I seriously expect the soundtrack for this movie to be nothing short of phenomenal, especially after Jay Z’s turn at producing the soundtrack for Baz Lurhman’s The Great Gasby.

It was the only thing that I liked about the movie (besides Leonardo Dicarprio, of course).

I went there.

I’m that asshole.

You know it.

But anyways, I’m really excited that Quvenzhané Wallis is going to be leading the film. After her exceedingly awesome turn in Beasts of the Southern Wild, the world is seriously ready to see more of her and I’m hoping this film gives her the attention she deserves.

I’m expecting a lot from this movie…in a good way.

(Annie will be singing and dancing into theaters Christmas 2014).
