Holy sh*t.
That was fast.

WB/DC doesn’t waste any time, do they?
It hasn’t even been 24 hours since I last discussed the possibility of an upcoming Gotham Central television show, but apparently, Deadline recently reported that Fox had given Gotham a straight-to-series order…which is actually amazing considering the fact that even the best shows on TV right now were given the initial “Here’s 12-episodes. Show us what you got” treatment.

That’s impressive.
To be honest, I’m not too surprised, especially in light of the fact that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D just unveiled its first episode yesterday.
Anyways, Gotham will apparently be exploring “the origin stories of Commissioner James Gordon and the villains that made Gotham famous”, while Batman will reportedly “not be part of the series” (Deadline).
So, if you were expecting Bats to show up, you will be sorely disappointed.

Eh. You’ll live.
Other than that, Bruno Heller (The Mentalist) will be writing and executively producing the project, (and will also be backed by WB). This is great news for DC fans, especially since DC already has established TV cred with Arrow and the upcoming The Flash spinoff. There are no details, however, on whether this show will be connecting to Batfleck Ben Affleck‘s Batman in anyway.
Like I said about the Gotham Central series, I’d definitely watch this. I mean, they’re already off on the right foot by not placing this show on the CW (yeah, I went there); so why not watch it?
