Movie News From Around the Web: ‘Catching Fire’, ‘Star Wars VII’ and More

I’m going to completely honest: This weeks news hasn’t been all that riveting or even captivating. However, I’ve managed to find interesting news worth sharing; so, go ahead and check it all out below:

Jennifer Ehle will be playing Anastasia Steele’s (Dakota Johnson) mother in Fifty Shades of Grey.

…Wut?

Um.

But why though?

Just in case you didn’t know, Jennifer Ehle is known for turning in some amazing performances in Zero Dark Thirty and Contagion; so I’m not sure how I feel about her wasting her talents in the bound-to-be-crappy Fifty Shades of Grey film based on the less-than-stellar (and THAT is putting it nicely) Fifty Shades of Grey novel penned by E.L. James.

The Starving Games is a thing and it’s happening and it looks just as terrible as it sounds.

UGHHHHH!

Okay, so I like a good spoof movie just as much as the next person, but come the f*ck on. I’m going to need Aaron Seltzer and Jason Friedberg to stop. I stopped caring after Epic Movie.

Anyways, if you’re even remotely interested in this, here’s the trailer below:

Continuing on the trend of terrible ass ideas, Avalanche Sharks is also a thing that’s happening.

You know…just in case you didn’t get enough of sharks and sh*t from Sharknado, but you get the point.

Dear God why.

Just so you know, the movie’s premise is exactly what the title sounds like. But just in case you actually want to read the synopsis, you can do so below (you can also view the trailer below too):

Spring break in the mountains: snowboarding, beer, drunken co-eds in bikinis. As the yearly Bikini Ski Day party descends on a small mountain town, something lurks beneath the snow. When an unwitting rider causes an avalanche, it awakens a huge, menacing, prehistoric Snow Shark! With a newfound taste for human flesh, the Snow Shark picks off the snow bunnies mercilessly. Cut off from help by mountainous terrain and blinding snow, the local sheriff must make an unlikely alliance with a motley crew of snowboarders to take down the Snow Shark before the white hills run red with blood!

Fun fact: The movie’s release date is actually listed as July 1, 2013. Make of that what you will.

Apparently, George Lucas has been constantly in contact with J.J. Abrams about Star Wars: Episode VII.

To be completely honest, I’m not sure if this is good or bad news.

Seriously. I’m not sure.

I mean, I’ve got mixed feelings since the last batch of Star Wars movies we got from Lucas before he sold them were the f*cking terrible prequels. At the same time, Lucas gave us the original trilogy and J.J. Abrams is a great director; so…again, not entirely sure how to feel.

Francis Lawrence promises there will be no “shaky cam” in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire…among other things.

THANK GOD.

Seriously! That shaky cam sh*t was bothering the hell out of me!

Anyways, that shaky cam business was seriously annoying in the first film and I’m glad that we won’t be seeing it in Catching Fire. On top of that, Lawrence also discussed the whole “love triangle” deal in Catching Fire (if you can call it that?). Personally, I’m cool with all of that, but if I hear another person say “Team Peeta” or “Team Gale”, I might actually punch someone in the f*cking face.

But, you can read more about that here.
