Music News From Around The Web: Drake, Lady Gaga, and More

Music news has been somewhat interesting this week. Not only have their been a slew of leaked tracks, but there’s also been a lot of tracklist reveals, as well as some shifting on in Billboard’s music ratings. With that being said, here’s a couple of music-related stories that have been abounding this week:

And…Katy Perry is officially a Cover Girl.

There’s still roughly about a week (well, less than a week at this point) until Katy Perry’s Prism album hits stores (it’ll be arriving October 22), but that’s not all the “Dark Horse” singer has been up to lately. Recently, Katy Perry officially joined the likes of artists like Janelle Monáe and P!nk and joined forces with Cover Girl.

Go ahead, Katy.

Perry was diligent about reporting the news and did so in the following tweets:

Little Mix‘s Sophomore album Salute will be hitting stores February 4, 2014.

It’s about time!

I think many (including myself) are presumably pumped for this. As victors of 2011’s season of The X Factor (The UK version), they continue to impress and I’m honestly still waiting for their fame to explode. And I’m hoping this new album is what does it.

Also, as a bonus, you can check out the track-list to their upcoming album and their song “Move” below:

1. Salute
2. Move
3. Little Me
4. Nothing Feels Like You
5. Towers
6. Competition
7. These Four Walls
8. About The Boy
9. Boy
10. Good Enough
11. Mr. Loverboy
12. A Different Beat

Eminem continues his “Old School” streak with his new song “Rap God”

I like Eminem, but as soon as I heard the title to his latest song, I had to do this

Oh Lord. As if we didn’t have enough of this with Kanye.

However, the song’s actually pretty good and features Eminem sporting some fierce/wicked rhymes. You can check the song out for yourself below:

The title to Cher Lloyd‘s new album will be Sorry I’m Late

So Cher Lloyd recently spoke to Billboard about her upcoming album and it will be titled Sorry I’m Late. Apparently, the title holds two means: not only will Lloyd be trying new things and new, mature sounds for the album, but the title also reflects the fact that Lloyd is still learning news things about herself and such.

Hmm. Not bad.

I can get behind that. Sounds better than Bangerz.

Yeah, I went there.

It was just too damn easy.

(You can read more about that here).

And speaking of Bangerz…guess who’s album debuted on Billboard’s 200 at f*cking #1?

*SIGH*

#Nope #ICant

…I’m not saying more than that. I objectively fulfilled my duty by reporting this in the first place.

In other news, Drake is sick of being referred to as “that sad guy”.

Or as we at Sublime Zoo like to refer to him, “The Male Adele”

Pretty much…

In all seriousness, Drake recently spoke Q Radio about how he’s really not all that sad and how people just assume that because of the music he makes.

Um…can you blame us, Drake!?

If you have an hour to spare, you can check out his interview below:

A snippet of Lady Gaga’s “Do What U Want” featuring R. Kelly debuted via a Beats Studio/Best Buy commercial ..and it’s presumably about sex.

And? What else is new?

I’m not to sure why some people are shocked about this, but in all actuality, I’m inclined to hold back any kind of judgment on the song until I hear it in its entirety. The clip is only about 30 seconds long and that definitely isn’t (read: shouldn’t) be enough to get anyone riled about.

However, if you’re up for it, you can check out the song/commercial below:
