To no one’s surprise Ender’s Game was the No.1 movie at the box office this weekend, earning $28 million in its debut weekend.
The Ender’s Game cast includes Harrison Ford, Asa Butterfield(as the main character, Ender), Ben Kingsley (as someone that does not collectively piss of the fans of super hero comics everywhere), Hailee Steinfeld , Viola Davis and Abigail Breslin.
The sci-fi film tells the story of a gifted boy drafted into military school in an apocalyptic future where the first order of business is defending the planet against a coming alien invasion. You know this plan is going to work flawlessly because all of this seems ultra normal, of course its okay to send out a child to fight an alien invasion when the whole of our fleet plus its legendary commander could not. No one is going to question that there maybe problems with giving a kid that big of job and there is absolutely no way it can damage him psychologically (If you couldn’t tell, that previous sentence was riddled with super sarcasm).
Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa continued to fare well with moviegoers but fell from its top spot landing in No. 2 and raking in $20.5 million.
Last Vegas, starring Michael Douglas, Morgan Freeman, Robert De Niro, and Kevin Kline, came in at No.3, making $16.5 million in its opening weekend.
