Finally!
I was beginning to think that Disney and LucasFilm would never give this film a date.

Damn skippy.
Moving on, Disney and LucasFilm announced today that Star Wars: Episode VII would be arriving in theaters on December 18, 2015. This announcement officially confirms (see: vindicates) previous reports of the film being moved from Moviepocalyspe to a Mid-December date. Either way, I’m totally on board with this date, since it would give the film more room to breath and more room (and time) to capitalize on all its box office proceedings during the not-as-explosive winter movie season.

Well played, Disney and LucasFilm. Well played.
Anyways, the film will begin shooting next spring (Spring 2014) in the UK (at Pinewood Studios). Here’s what Disney Chairmen Alan Horn had to say about the matter:
“We’re very excited to share the official 2015 release date for Star Wars: Episode VII, where it will not only anchor the popular holiday film-going season but also ensure our extraordinary filmmaking team has the time needed to deliver a sensational picture” (Variety).
Other than that, Disney and LucasFilm have already started conducting casting for the film on the DL; so, look out for those announcements.
