Movie News From Around The Web: ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’, ‘Road House’, and More

It’s no secret that finals are upon are us writers at Sublime Zoo and as a result, we have mostly been MIA for over two weeks (save AJ Parker. I salute you, AJ). Lump that together with the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday and you can bet your ass that we’ve been busy lately. Regardless, as I’ve said in the past, news waits for no one and movies are no exception to that rule.

So, without further ado, here are your movie news from around the web:

Sony has finally unveiled the trailer release date for their upcoming film, The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Which, according to Screen Rant, will presumably be named The Amazing Spider-Man 2: Rise of Electro…since subtitles are a thing these days.

I’m still not sure what to make of this trend, but okay.

Moving on, director Marc Webb recently announced via Twitter that the films official trailer would be accompanying The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug in theaters on December 13 (which isn’t a bad idea). However, Sony upped the ante by announcing that the trailer itself would splash onto the web on December 5, a full week before December 13.

Personally, I think it’s a smart move, especially if Sony wants to make sure that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 doesn’t get lost in all the superhero-related news that is being dominated currently by Captain America: The Winter Soldier and X-Men: Days of Future Past. I’ll be looking forward to it.

Expect Optimus Prime to look hella different in Transformers: Age of Extinction.

Though we are getting a slew of new characters in the upcoming Transformers film, (which includes new human characters like Mark Wahlberg and new robots like the Dinobots), Transformers fans should take comfort in the fact that they will be seeing at least one familiar face: Optimus Prime (who will still be voiced by Peter Cullen).

That I did, Optimus. That I did.

With that being said, however, it appears that the character will be sporting an updated look in the film. This said look was recently reveiled on Empire Magazine’s latest cover. So far, there doesn’t seem to be any major backlash when it comes to the update, but you be the judge:

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues has rolled out even more character posters.

Are you ready for this?

Though the film still has roughly a month a left before it hits theaters (the film will be hitting theaters December 20), the powers that be behind the film have decided to roll out new character posters for Meagan Good’s Linda Jackson, James Marsden’s Jack Lime, and Kristen Wiig’s Chani.

You can check out the new posters below:

There’s a Road House remake in the works.

That’s my question: But why though?

I have one question: WHY?

Granted, I’m aware that we are currently still in the age of unnecessary remakes and reboots, but this is just the latest remake that makes me give the side-eye to all studio equally.

Additionally, call me crazy, but it seems as if Hollywood has developed a bit of an odd (see: weird) fascination with remaking Patrick Swayze movies as of late. On top of the strange remake that was Red Dawn (sorry Chris Hemsworth. You’re cool and all, but even you couldn’t save that movie), there are also reportedly remakes for Dirty Dancing and Point Break in the works.

Whatever the reason for the sudden fascination, I’m just hoping that they at least do the original films some type of justice.
