DC Cinematic Universe Update: What’s Up With Wonder Woman and The Justice League?

As most of you know, I recently posted about being super excited (read: giddy) about the fact that Batman Vs Superman has been delayed for a number of reasons.

You know? Because I’m an asshole?

That being said, I’m still very much interested in what is going on behind the scenes when it comes to the aforementioned film, especially as it pertains to Wonder Woman and Justice League-related news.

So, on that note, here are a couple of updates I’ve come across in the last couple of days:

Gal Gadot Reportedly Signed A Three Picture Deal

It’s been a hot minute since it was first announced that Gal Gadot would be taking on the iconic role of Wonder Woman. Naturally, Gadot remained relatively mum about the role.

Until now that is.

According to a recent article from Batman-News, Gal Gadot recently revealed that not only had she signed a multi-picture deal that involved three films, but she will also receive $300,000 for appearing in Batman Vs Superman.

I’m guessing WB/DC may be following Marvel’s “stingy-as-f*ck” long-term business model.

Well…whatever works. I guess.

Whatever the case, though I am still highly skeptical as always, I wish Gadot luck and I’m hoping there’s a solo film somewhere in that contract.

Jason Momoa Kind Of Squashes ‘Justice League’ Rumors

If you’ve been keeping up with Justice League-related news, you know that Jason Momoa has been rumored for every role from Aquaman (for real though?) all the way to Martian Manhunter (I don’t know about that).

Eh. It could be worse. He could be like the rock, who's been name-dropped for 1001 superhero roles.

Eh. It could be worse. He could be like The Rock, who’s been name-dropped for 1001 superhero roles.

However, Fandango’s Scott Huver recently had the opportunity to talk to Momoa about the aforementioned rumors and to be honest, his answer is not all that surprising:

Oh man, it’s rumors. Everyone obviously wants to ask, but I can’t really comment on rumors. When it popped up. I even had people going like ‘Congratulations!” I was like, ‘On what?’” (Screen Rant).

Granted, as Screen Rant as pointed out, it is worth noting that Momoa did not downright deny his possible involvement in such a film. But, that may just be because he wants to avoid another potential sh*tfest as it concerns contract negotiations (remember that one time where he was thisclose to playing Drax the Destroyer?).

Stephen Amell Slams False Headlines About Talks With Warner Bros

In the last couple of days, a number of erroneous reports have popped up saying that Stephen Amell has been in talks with WB abut appearing in a possible ‘Justice League’ movie. While many are unsure where the original false report popped up, Stephen Amell is NOT happy about this news and took to his Facebook page today to discuss issue.

Here’s his original statement:

“All we have to do for something like that to happen, or even be a possibility, is continue to take care of business with our show and then we put ourselves in a position – but the important thing is our show. I have had discussions, but I think the gestation process for this project is a lot slower than most people think. I mean, they haven’t even shot the next one. They haven’t even shot a frame of the movie before the movie everyone thinks is the Justice League movie!” (Screen Rant).

And here is his angry Facebook status:

Well then.

It is safe to say that the man is pissed.

What I imagine him saying to the WHOLE of the media right now.

Anyways, I’m glad that Amell took it upon himself to clarify his original statement, seeing as there’s always someone out there that is ready to take your words out of context. Also, there is the added pressure of not wanting to give Arrow fans false hope or get his ass in trouble with WB; so kudos to him for slamming the lies.
