Beyoncé Earns 8 VMA Nominations; Katy Perry Throws Shade at the VMAs

(Mostly) Everyone’s favorite queen is currently leading the 2014 MTV VMAs with eight nominations. Such nominations include Video of the Year for “Drunk in Love” (which features her husband Jay Z), Best Female for “Partition”, Best Choreography for “Partition”, and Best Collaboration for “Drunk in Love”.

I am not really a fan of “Drunk in Love”, but “Partition” can gladly take those awards.

Moving on, Eminem and Iggy Azalea are the next two that lead in nominations, with 7 a piece. Eminem has received nods—including Best Male, Best Hip Hop, and Best Collaboration for songs like “Berzerk” and “Monster”, while Azalea has garnered nods—including Best Female, Best Pop, and etc—for “Fancy” and “Problem”. Azalea has also scored a video of the year nod for “Fancy” and its’ ode to the film Clueless.

That song annoys the absolute sh*t out of me, seeing as radios cannot figure out how to play something ELSE. And no, switching over to “Problem” doesn’t help.

Pharrell Williams, Sia, and Ariana Grande are next up, in that the three have also scored three nominations. After that, artists like Jay Z, Jason Derulo, Hayley Williams, Sam Smith, Zedd, Avicii, and Katy Perry remain close behind with two nominations.

It also appears that Katy Perry’s “Roar” was completely overlooked for any awards, (I’m happy about that, as that song annoys the living sh*t out of me and reminds me too much of Sara Bareilles’s “Brave”), a move that has not gone unnoticed by the songstress.

She tweeted this about the matter:

My reply? She’ll get over it.

There are better things to get mad at/throw shade over.
